DZIMC includes several
meditation groups in northern Nevada. Each meditation group
is organized differently and has its own unique “culture.”
Beginners are always welcome. No group charges a fee, though
a practice of generosity through donations is welcomed to help defray
expenses.

About us: Beginner
instruction is offered on the first Monday of every month or at any
time a new person attends the group. We recite the Buddhist
precepts, the guidelines for ethical behavior, every first Monday of
the month. Other Mondays we offer a talk on the Buddha’s
teachings, discussion, or readings. We end each evening with a guided
loving-kindness meditation.

It's a big old house, painted yellow, about mid-block. Sitting starts
at 6:30, so please be a little early. You may park in the lot or on the
street. When you go in through the front door, you will see a stairway
on your left -- the room we will be sitting in is the art room,
upstairs, last room on the right if you turn left at the top of the
stairs. We are planning on having
some sort of sign to help everyone navigate.

About us:
Information on One River Sangha can be found on The One River Sangha web site.
We are open to meditators of all stripes and experience levels, and we
are a mix of GLBT and straight people. Currently our group has about a
dozen regular sitters. We are rooted in vipassana-style buddhism, but
we don't have a resident teacher, and as a result, we tend to just
focus on sitting and cultivating the sangha community. We start sitting
at 6:30, so if you can get there in time to be settled and ready to
meditate at 6:30, that's ideal. If you're late, no problem -- just
enter the room quietly. You won't disturb anyone! We sit for a half
hour, then talk and sometimes have tea, usually breaking up by 8pm.
If you want
ideas about how to run a sangha for teens, contact Janet at
775-690-0752.
