Dharma Zephyr Sangha

Due to pandemic, meetings are cancelled until further notice.

This group is composed of long-time practitioners.

We start right at 6:45pm with a 40-minute meditation, unless we have someone new (newcomers are warmly welcomed); in that case we spend time talking in general about meditation from an insight meditation perspective and then offer instructions, with another practice discussion following. We also recommend beginners check out our 5:30 group “Beginners’ Mind.”

On the second Monday meeting of the month we recite and discuss the Buddhist precepts (guidelines for ethical behavior) and talk about how our meditation and mindfulness practices are going, so this is an especially good night to begin meeting with us.  Other Mondays we offer a talk or reading on the Buddha’s teachings and then discuss how we can apply them to our lives so that we may gain in wisdom, compassion and happiness.

Starting in January 2020 we are reading Heartwood of the Bodhi Tree by Buddhadasa Bikkhu, translated by Santikaro. Available from Wisdom Publications in paper or authorized ebook if you wish to have your own copy (we read aloud at meeting, so not necessary).  WisdomExperience.org

We end each evening with a guided loving-kindness meditation.

There is no charge; though traditionally we offer a donation to cover costs. There is no need to register. We do not meet on major holidays or in inclement weather.
