Introduction to Buddhist Insight Meditation: A 6-Week Course with Deborah Stevenson and Tom Gray
January 14, 2027 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Join us for this 6-week course which meets every Thursday evening 5:30 to 7:00 pm, January 7 to February 11, 2027 at the Dharma Zephyr Center.
The course is suitable for beginners interested in exploring insight meditation practice and essential Theravada Buddhist teachings, as well as for more experienced practitioners who want to re-energize their practice and review the basics.
Insight meditation (or vipassana in Pali) brings us back to the present with greater calm and clarity. The Buddha recommended 2500 years ago that we combine ethical conduct, meditation and an investigation into the nature of the mind/heart. When we do this today, insight meditation still leads to deep insights that help us, and those we are in relationship with, to live with less suffering.
Each class will build on the previous ones and will include arrival practices, a talk on Buddhist teachings or techniques, a guided meditation, a question and answer discussion, and a closing.
The course is offered freely. Attendees will have the opportunity to make voluntary donations (dana), both to help pay for class costs, and as part of a wholesome individual practice of generosity.
