5-Night Residential Retreat with John Travis at Lake Tahoe

September 24, 2017 ·

“Dancing towards open awareness”

This retreat is based on the fundamental principles of practice.

First – is the discipline to stop and collect ourselves – the principles of concentration.

Second – the ability and repetition of seeing into the simple functions of the heart and mind. Seeing how we live with, create, and let go of tension and anxieties. The fundamentals of insight.

Third –
once the heart mind settles, one begins to see that peace and ease, the simple nature of un-obstructed awareness begins to dominate our field. Being free to let everything come and go, Including the complexities of our lives.

Working with the practice of nothing special- simply sitting and walking – integrating these three fundamentals – some will simply work on concentration. Others will put more attention on the study of emotions and the play of the mind. And last but not least that sense of freedom that comes from relaxing into open awareness. The dancing with these principles.

Integrating Insights into Our Daily Lives: A Daylong Meditation Retreat with Heather Sundberg

September 24, 2017 ·

Heather Sunderburg

“OK so I had an Insight,
maybe it was small, maybe it changed everything for me.

Now what?”

(By the way, everyone has insights!)

We spend much of our spiritual lives chasing after meditative ‘experiences’, perhaps hoping for the intensity, the ‘big moments’.  We often miss the simple insights, which over time change our minds, open our hearts, and transform our lives.  We often don’t know what to do when there is a more dramatic transformation.

This daylong is designed to explore the nature of insight – a direct experience into wisdom – and how to develop skills to navigate the generally less understood and sometimes tricky process of ‘digesting and integrating’ our understandings into our daily lives.

Enjoy a day of quiet sitting and walking meditation, which allow our minds to settle down and our hearts to open to an inner wisdom. In addition to insight meditation practice, Heather will offer teachings, facilitate discussion and guide practices to support the identification and integration of insights into our daily lives.  Optional simple guided movement practice will also be offered.

Five Things Which Wake Us Up!: A Daylong Meditation Retreat with Heather Sundberg

September 24, 2017 ·

Heather Sunderburg

Wise Friends – Celebrating Integrity – Hearing the Dharma (truth) – Wise Effort – Harmony with Impermanence

At this daylong we will deeply explore these Five Marvelous Qualities that both ‘wake us up’ and also serve as markers of our continuing awakening on the spiritual path.  Through stories, guided meditations, teachings, silent sitting and walking meditation practice, and optional qi gong movement practice, we will reveal, taste, and cultivate each of these qualities, discovering what they mean to us in our lives.

There will be a potluck dinner immediately following the retreat at a private home in Carson City. If you would like to attend, please bring a dish to share. The location will be announced at the retreat; if you are not attending the retreat, please email Kathy for location.
