Qigong Class Series: Mondays, December 19th – March 6th
December 19, 2016 @ 8:45 am - 9:45 am
$6 – $10Gentle Movement for Opening the Heart
Deborah Stevenson offers a refreshing new class, featuring simple movements and guided meditations done sitting in a chair. This form, called Sheng Zhen Qigong, is suitable for beginners who have an interest in meditation but “can’t sit still.” More advanced meditators will find it adds a whole new dimension to their experience, for it closely parallels “metta” or lovingkindness practice. Its purpose is to open and purify the heart.
Sheng Zhen promotes relaxation and stimulates circulation through the flow of chi, or life force energy. It is also good for the emotions, leading to a more balanced life. Becoming a happier person leads to a desire to care for others and the natural environment. By practicing these slow movements, one can feel the power of love and return to the natural state.
The class meets weekly at Gaia Yoga and Wellness on Mondays from 4:45 to 5:45 from December 19, 2016 through March 6, 2017. The drop-in class rate is $10, but many discounts and promotional offerings are available on the website: http://www.
