2 Day-Long Retreats with Leigh Braisington
November 15, 2014 @ 1:00 am - November 16, 2014 @ 8:00 am
Saturday, November 15 The Jhanas
The jhanas are meditative absorptions, state of altered consciousness brought to fruition by concentration, the eighth step on the eight-fold path. For the Buddha, they were a gateway to the calm, clear mind leading to liberation. Leigh has years of experience with the jhanas, using them to further his explorations of the path to liberation. He will share that knowledge with us.
Sunday, November 16 Dependent Co-arising
The Blessed One said “One who see dependent origination sees the Dhamma; one who see the Dhamma sees dependent origination.” Paticca-samuppada, or dependent co-origination is the name given to “the conditional arising of all those mental and physical phenomena generally summed up by the conventional names ‘living being,’ or ‘individual,’ or ‘person.’” We will examine the 12 steps of paticca-samuppada to see how it leads to liberation.
