“Skillfully Practicing with the 5 Hindrances in Meditation”
Time: 9:00 am – 4 pm
Whether a beginning meditator, or longterm practitioner, interfacing skillfully with the 5 hindrances is paramount to the path of practice. The five hindrances are the forces of sensual craving, aversion, restlessness, sloth & torpor, and doubt. If attended to wisely, these occurrences can be stepping stones of wisdom. This non-residential weekend retreat will explore how to attend to these forces in meditation using the Buddha’s words as a reference point for our investigation.
Vance Pryor, PsyD, has practiced insight meditation since 1999 in both the United States and Myanmar. He has been influenced by the teachings of Sayadaw U Pandita and Sayadaw U Tejaniya. He is a recent graduate of IMS’s 2017-2021 Teacher Training Program.
The teachings of the Dharma are offered freely. There will be an opportunity to practice generosity (DANA).
